Estée Lauder Lipgloss Review

Ok so this isn't a new lipgloss, but I discovered it rooting around my friend Sarah's makeup drawer (check out her blog, 'Skin Perfecting') and tried it on! It's a limited edition sparkly lipgloss called Chaotic Currant, and looks like a dark, sparkly, glossy version of MACS lipstick in 'Rebel'.

The texture of this is a liiiittle bit sticky, quite thick and highly pigmented. Much more glittery than in the pictures, so perfect for a night out, or for Christmas! These shades are so in this Autumn it's unreal, so grab a dupe like Rimmels lipstick in 'Cutting Edge', Wet n Wilds 'Sugar Plum Fairy' or Rimmels Moisture Renew lipstick in 'Glam Plum Fulham'.

New Max Factor Giant Lip Pencils Review

Max Factor have just brought out some brand new 'lip pencils'. They're sort of like a spin off from crayons to look at, and after seeing the advertisement for them (which is beautiful) I was quite looking forward to trying one out!

I LOVE this image! Gorgeous hair and lips!

The first thing I want to point out it that these are NOT twist up, from what I can tell! I think you have to SHARPEN them, as I spent a good deal of time attempting to spin the bottom in an effort to get more out, to no avail! If this is a case, I think that's a realllly bad idea, a lot of unnecessary effort  and a bit silly, to be honest!

I tried the red pencil as shown in the advert.

It's easy to apply because of the shape, which means you don't really need a lip liner. It has great pigmentation, and looks very bright on the lips with just one slick. However, I can't say I'm a massive fan of the texture. It's a bit sticky, I found my hair sticking to it when I stepped outside, and I even had some transfer on to my teeth - something that has NEVER happened with other lipsticks I've used! I do love the colour, though again it doesn't have the depth that it seems to have in the advert, and I'd say the staying power is alright - nothing more, nothing less!

I'm still in love with the visual, enough to think about dying my hair that colour!

What do you guys think?

No7 Haul & Review

Ok, so I know it's been a while since I last did a post, but hopefully this juicy little review on these No7 products I bought recently will make you forgive me!

Clockwise from top left: No7 Total Renewal Micro-Dermabrasion Exfoliator; No7 Beautiful Skin Deep Pore Purifier; No7 Beautiful Skin Pore Vacuum Mask; No7 Stay Perfect Lipstick in Grace; No7 Sheer Temptation Lipstick in Shy Pink; No7 Anti-Aging Shimmerinh Lip & Eye Screen (30SPF)

First, the lip products. I've always been a fan of the Stay Perfect lipsticks at No7, fab if you love a good matte lip that isn't too dry. This Autumn, vampy, femme fatale make-up is in (YAY, one of my personal faves) so I picked up a Grace lipstick in preparation.

I was too excited to try it on so whacked it on as soon as I had the receipt (with the No7 Caramel lip liner to gives my lips a more defined shape) and I LOVED it! It would probably look better with a smokey eye and a more defined cheek, but still a fab colour especially for this Autumn!

No7 Stay Perfect Lipstick in 'Grace'

Ok, on to my Sheer Temptation lipstick in 'Shy Pink'.

This one, as the name suggests, is more like a gloss than a proper full-on lippy so perfect for those who hate anything too pigmented. Very hassle free and low maintenance, I like to put a slick of this on when I'm in a rush as it gives a really pretty, pearly, pretty look to my lips.

The lip sheen with an SPF of 30 looks quite similar on to the Sheer Temptation lipstick except it's obviously a lot more holiday friendly and a shade lighter with less pink to it! I seriously love them both as my lips are naturally quite pink and this tones them down to a nice nude with a hint of shimmer. Neither of these lip products picture half as nicely as they look on in real life, which is why I haven't added some here - go into your local Boots and try them on yourself, see what I mean!

I was excited to get my skin products home as I've been struggling with my oily skin recently, particularly on the nose and forehead. Firstly, the Deep Pore Purifier.

No make-up ahhhh sorry folks, avert your eyes! (I have some of the lip sheen on here - can you see it?! Looks better in real life, trust me!)
The Deep Pure Purifier has a fancy pants attachment to help apply the product:

I really like this application method as it's easier to control how much product you use, and the applicator is fab for gently working around the nose and chin areas.

Gently massaging it into the nose

It really feels like it's getting the product deeply into the skin, and it's easy to clean afterwards. I think this product is really promising though I'll obviously have to try it for a little longer to see if it shrinks my pores any, however I'd say from the first use my nose feels really soft and feels very clean! Thumbs up from me!

On to the Pore Vacuum Mask!

Ok so you treat this like a regular mask, except focus it on oily areas/areas with big pores etc. Very similar to nose/chin strips, except in liquid form!

Well, I say liquid. It's got clay in it, so maybe that'll help you to picture how thick and sticky it is!

"Haha it looks like poo", my lovely, mature friend told me...
It's also green. Not very attractive, as you can see!

Dries surprisingly fast, which I was impressed with - normally with peel off masks I have to walk about for ages, prodding my cheeks to check for when it's set!

This is not beautiful to take off, in fact it's a down right pain in the butt (but also a bit satisfying...) Basically some of it peels off as it should, and other bits are a bit of a hassle and stick to your face. I can't stress how unattractive it is to be sat there picking bits of green gunk off your face as I was after applying this, so save this for a girls night in rather than when your boyfriends around, ok?!

Having said that, I quite liked it! As I said before, it reminds me of pore strips but in liquid form which I like because you can control how much you use and where you put it. My face did feel clean after, though whether it helps to shrink pores only time will tell!

Last but not least, my Body Micro-Dermabrasion Exfoliator.

I was looking forward to using this because I've heard great things about micro-dermabrasion and haven't used anything like it before. I have keratosis pilaris (KP) on my upper arms (it's like small bumps, realllly annoying and look red when I'm cold) and was hoping this would improve the appearance and feel of them.

This looks like a regular white exfoliator except the beads are teeny tiny, you almost can't feel them (finer than sand!) I worked it in circular motions on to my upper arms for around a minute whilst in the shower, then washed it off with the warm water. It's not uncomfortable to use at all, in fact I've had grainier exfoliators in the past and was expecting something a lot harsher for all the warnings it puts on the box and instructions. Afterwards... well, I actually can't notice an immediate difference which I'm HUGELY disappointed about, especially after reading other peoples reviews for it! I'm hoping because it's the first use it will get better after a couple more tries. Next time I shower I'll try it on another area of skin to see if I can feel a difference there.

This product is supposed to be good for anti-ageing, getting rid of sun spots, discolouration and bumps, and you're supposed to wear an SPF after using it. Only to be used twice a week, so it may take a bit of time before vast improvement becomes noticeable, but I remain optimistic and have a good feeling about this product!

Anyway, hope you found this useful/interesting! What do you guys think of the No7 products?

No7 Stay Perfect Lipsticks

So I have a bit of a haul/review post for the No7 Stay Perfect lipsticks! I bought four shades today after eyeing them up on the counter for weeks.

L-r: Glace, Gay Geranium, Tranquil Rose and Mischief

These lipsticks have a matte finish as they're made to stay on for ages. I initially thought they must be quite uncomfortable because of this but, actually, they're quite creamy and once set they feel like you've got nothing on! They have great colour pigmentation (particularly the Gay Geranium which is selling out quickly due to the new No7 ads).

I actually really like these lipsticks and I can't wait to start wearing them to work to see how they last!

Glace looks very purple in the tube but has a GORGEOUS golden shimmer to it once on, I love it!

Gay Geranium has always been a popular colour and has been a favourite since the 60's. it's not hard to see why - it's a gorgeous, poppy, bright coral red!

Tranquil Rose is a more muted colour compared to the others, great for the office and even for nights out with a nice smokey eye. Suits a lot of skin tones so is really quite versatile!

Mischief - the name says it all really. A cheeky, gorgeous pinky purpley delight... Seriously can't wait to wear this out!

Bobbi Brown Make-up Practise

One of my closest friends, Sarah (Skin Perfecting) asked if she could practise some Bobbi Brown style make-up on me, so of course I said yes! I mean, I'm hardly one to pass up a day filled with make-up am I?

I always love getting my make-up done by other people because I find it very relaxing and you can steal a few of their ideas, tee hee!

Here's how it turned out:

I personally LOOOOVE it! It's a natural, nude/coral kind of look, right up my street! Beautiful day wear make-up and easy to make evening-y as well!

I tried a red lip (MAC's Lady Danger) to see what it would look like:

I'm thinking I shall have to invest in this lipstick, oh yes!

I also had a chance to do Sarah's make-up as she was going out for drinks that evening:

I was pretty pleased with how it turned out, though I must say Sarah has a face made for make-up so she made the job pretty easy!

It was great fun and I think good experience having a go with her make-up brushes and make-up rather than my own, because I got to use new products/brushes and be a bit more inventive!

Barry M Lip Gloss

Today I was rummaging through one of my many make-up bags when I came across two Barry M lip glosses. I completely forgot about these - so figured I'd wear them today and do a review!

This is the actual colour of the gloss, looks way different in the lighting of the photo I took!

I'll start with the red one!

First, I don't like the fact they they don't seem to name the colours of their glosses (boooo!). Instead, they put a number on the bottom, which is pretty hard to read. However I believe the shade of the red gloss I have is '045'.

It looks pretty vibrant in the tube, but on it appears quite sheer.

It smells like cherry, which I like!

It has the texture of Vaseline - in my opinion, the PERFECT texture for a lip gloss! Not sticky in the slightest!

After researching this gloss I found it might actually have been a valentine's special... if that's the case then NOOOOO!! I need to stock up, fast!

The second pink gloss is shade... er, I can't really tell, because it's rubbed off!

This is when I searched the web in hopes of finding the correct shade, and discovered that these glosses are REALLY hard to find, because they have numbers AND names but Barry M can't seem to decide which they prefer so it's all mixed up and confusing... The pink one is REALLY difficult to find, with some describing it as coral, others as pink. It's either called 'Flamingo', 'Coral' or 'Strawberries and Cream'... personally, I think it's the coral one, though it definitely looks more pink to me!

Anywho, moving on!

The pink one (Flamingo? Strawberries & Cream? Coral? MAKE YOUR MINDS UP, BARRY M!) smells sooooo divine. I'm serious. I can quite happily just sit and smell it's yummy deliciousness for ages, it smells so good!

It has the same great Vaseline texture of the cherry one, with a sheer coverage and no stickiness.

As you can see, if you're after a lot of colour with your lip gloss these aren't for you. If, however, you like your gloss to smell gorgeous, be quite sheer and non-sticky, these are perfect!

I actually love them. I would go as far to say they are my favourite day-to-day lipgloss, and would be easy to wear over a lipstick at night too. Will I be repurchasing? DEFINITELY!... well, if I can find them, anyway!

These glosses are around £4.25 and can be purchased from the Asos and Amazon websites, and the Barry M stands that are regularly in Boots and Superdrug.

These glosses really are amazing, if only Barry M could sort themselves out a bit and figure out which ones to keep, which ones to make special edition, and what to name them!

If you guys think you know the names to these glosses, let me know in the comments below!

Pin-up Make-up & Fun Photoshoot

So today my friend Becky (Meli & Becky Go Travelling!) came over. I decided to take advantage of the situation and do a bit of pin-up make-up practise on her!

Oh, I also did her hair with my Remington Keratin Therapy Curling Iron:

I just sprayed a load of heat protector spray onto her hair and curled small sections in the same direction:

I then made her shake her head upside down for a bit, and sprayed with hair spray. Voila! Easy peasy!

Now on to the make-up...

The items I used to create this look were:

Paese Matte Primer
Avon Ideal Flawless Foundation in Shell
Rimmel Clear Complexion Stick in Ivory
Collection Liquid Concealer in Fair
Calvin Klein Brow Palette in Soft Blonde
Colour Lash Clear Mascara (on brows)
Sleek Palette in Ultra Mattes V2

Here are some fun pin-up style pics we took whilst she had her make-up done:

Next time I'll use false eyelashes too. Such a fun, girly day, I love playing around with make-up and hair! Let me know what you think!
